I have been spending most of my time the past few weeks reading, watching (new seasons for my beloved shows, CSI, NCIS & TAR, and a bit of anime here and there) and of course... CROCHETING!!!
I would admit even after a few years of doing it on and off, I still love the craft. I've gotten back to it last year when a friend was trying to learn how to knit to make something for her beloooved boyfriend. I was surprised and was like, hey that's a nice idea. Why not try making some for friends this Christmas. And with that I (one who has been crocheting for years) learned how to read patterns. Yes, all those years I've been mostly making things stuff without one, which I would admit, hindered my skill progression (sorry, this is the effect of reading and being addicted to SAO and the light novels) I guess in a short amount of time my skills would be considered along the intermediate level. I have yet to tackle an experienced pattern. I have only recently ( a few weeks I guess) learned how to read a chart pattern and correct me if I'm wrong, mostly used by Japanese crocheters/knitters. It's a hit and miss since I've been using a different type of yarn category and gauge making is still confusing me a bit. So far, I haven't been in luck of looking for the yarn I want to use/try for those projects, either that or the yarns I find are a bit expensive just to be trying it out at first.
Gah! Speaking of expensive. Ugh! I was (yet again) left with my thoughts (one day), and noticed that most of my hobbies are on the expensive side. I love arts and crafts, (sewing, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc.) but it's quite taxing on my always near empty wallet. Whenever I'm at the craft store, I would stare at the yarn aisle (for i.e.) debating what color I should buy since I want to grab them all and make a work studio for my crafts. Sadly, again, the latter have to wait until I have settled myself financially.
For now, I have opened an online shop for my crochet items, Biscuitina's Being Crafty , currently I only have one item on the listing but planning to add more soon as I try to design more items, and maybe those patterns without selling restrictions (I do respect the pattern makers). I opened the shop to pay for my hobbies and I did say somewhere there that I only make them during my free time. xD! I need a banner for it though, hopefully laziness doesn't hit me... (lies!) and edit the shop page soon. (For some reason or another the feel of opening the shop feels like opening a shop in Neopets).
I have babbled too much for now. :D Another friend is requesting for me to make her some crochet goth loli items. Time to make some designs and maybe, you might see them on my shop soon!
